Musicians You Should Know: ERIC KRASNO
by Terry “T-Bone” Mathley
For my first installment of “Musicians You Should Know” – I decided to go with a guy who is one of my favorite guitarists on the planet… Eric Krasno.
Ever since the day I walked into a record store about 10 years ago and picked up a copy of ”Get Down!” by the band Soulive, I’ve been a HUGE fan. He’s one of the few guys that can seamlessly bridge the gaps from Soul to Funk to Rock and Blues and make it look and sound easy! He’s also one of the rare guitarists that knows how to “play for the song.” He plays what’s needed and what fits.
Whether he’s playing with Soulive, Lettuce, Chapter 2 or doing his own thing- he brings the goods. I’ve never seen a guy so free on stage when it comes to jamming with other musicians. There are videos of him playing with John Scofield, Derek Trucks, Karl Denson, etc. on YouTube and the give and take and respect between all the musicians is a beautiful thing to see.
I’ve posted links for you to check him and his bands out and posted several YouTube videos to give you just a taste of what the man can do. I urge you to dig deeper and find out more… you won’t be disappointed. I hope to interview him for this site and my radio show before too long.
